Dan & Gini Herron
World Harvest Mission (WHM) – Spain
Dan & Gini Herron working with La Iglesia de Reconciliación in Spain. Their primary focus is church planting among secular Spaniards, immigrant workers and graduate students. They cooperate with other churches in their city. They take Spanish and American Christians on vision trips to nearby countries to help them gain a passion for sharing Christ with internationals. In 2009, they commissioned their prayer meeting as a Mission Church. It is Spanish-English International in focus, which will provide a place to bring international friends for exposure to Christianity and the kind of community it can produce. Most Sundays, they have 45-50 people enjoying worship of our Saviour.
They have been certified as a distribution center by the European food bank. In 2009, between five distributions they gave out 20 tons of food to 250 needy families in their neighborhood. (They estimate that 40% are from international backgrounds.) At the beginning of Spring and Winter, they organize clothing bazaars of donated secondhand clothes. These people are invited from the same list that receives the food. Last June, they held their first English camp. It was designed to give them more exposure to all social classes in our neighborhood. The desire to learn English is high in Spain and seems to still be growing.
