Summer Work Project-2017

For two weekends in June, Manor partnered with Good Neighbors Inc. to assist in an ongoing work project. We had twenty-seven volunteers from our congregation, and whether they were making and serving coffee and breakfast before the team departed for the day, or working to put a roof on two different houses, those who came together were used by God to make these weekends successful and impactful.

The project manager who worked with us from Good Neighbors,Tom, met us at the site and gave direction and instructions for the day. By the time we got off the roof for lunch, the roof was completed; more impressively, however, the group of those who rarely get the chance to speak to each other, save for Sunday mornings, had gotten the opportunity to share hours alongside each other — talking, sweating, and laughing (a lot) — and left the site with more friends than with which they had arrived.

It is always encouraging to see how service can bring a group together, and these work projects were no exception. God was working in the hearts of those who volunteered their time in many different capacities, in the hearts of those who prayed for these work weekends, and we pray He continues to work in the lives of those whose roofs we assisted to replace.
